Lectors

Be a lector!

A lector believes that Sacred Scripture is the Word of God and deeply respects God’s presence in that word.
A lector is a person who proclaims the first or second reading at Mass, voices the community’s petitions in the Prayer of the Faithful, and makes weekly announcements. Consider serving in this vital ministry.

"Lector" is derived from the Latin word for "reader."

The lector ministry dates back to the beginning of Church history when educated laypeople were called upon to proclaim the Word in liturgical services. Padre Serra Parish's lector ministry began with the establishment of the parish in 1988 and has continued since.
