Although we have only been a part of the parish for 5 years, we have come to love the people and our dear Fr. Patrick, as well as the many ministries that are offered. A favorite memory is our first Christmas concert - we were blown away by the magnitude of this "parish Christmas concert". There are so many talented singers and musicians who are part of the Padre Serra family. We look forward to the concert each year. Another favorite memory for Sue was the first women's retreat held at the Retreat Center in Malibu. I will cherish the sharings and insight Fr. Jim Clarke gave us on that retreat.

We are grateful to have built relationships and made so many friends at Padre Serra from our first visit in 2000. This was on display within one month after our arrival when both new neighbors and parishioners greeted us with open arms. Our courtyard provides a fantastic backdrop where such meetings, fellowship and special events can occur. We are so inspired by the Advent, Christmas and Easter Seasons where both the courtyard and our fantastic worship space are maximized. Mass ‘in the round’ provides a special opportunity to look across the altar and see the eyes of Christ in another; it truly transforms a heart. Of course, we also recognize that the people of God so present at Padre Serra continue to bless our lives in many ways; this community indeed reflects our parish mission that reads, “Encounter Jesus, Be Disciples”. These bonds have surely helped to navigate the waters when social distancing, masks and adjustments to our sacramental and ministerial lives become necessary.
