My husband and I moved to Camarillo during COVID, and I missed attending mass in person. When I discovered the outdoor mass at Padre Serra, I was in heaven! It was so beautiful, with amazing music and inspiring sermons by Fr. Patrick. Even though we did not shake hands, I felt welcomed by all the smiles!
From Mass meetings at the St John's seminary to the building of our Padre Serra parish to our beautiful church. All the families fostering love and companionship I love greeting our parishioners at the 07:30 am Mass. Wearing name tags encourages speaking with one another.
One of my favorite memories is of singing in the choir during my very first Triduum nearly two decades ago now. I was blown away back then by the deeply moving services that unfolded over those three absolutely incredible days, and I consider it one of the truly great blessings of my life that I have been able to be a part of it year after year.
My late husband, daughter, and I joined Padre Serra in 2015 and have enjoyed being a part of this church. I used to sing in the choir at my last church. I'm so grateful to be part of the amazing choir here.
Coming from a church that prided itself on being bible based, I was struck by how much more Padre Serra reverenced the Bible and how much more effort went into an effective group of lectors. That was a powerful outreach to me.
